This is not your usual cheap, chinese clarinet. Ashton have their own factory in the far East meaning they are able to guarentee quality control on all products. If you are buying for a son or daughter it is not worth buying an instrument cheaper than this as they will not have an instrument of required quality to make any real progress on. If you can't afford to spend £149 straight away you could always try renting for a few months to make sure they are going to continue with it.
